This presentation focuses on the safety considerations and quality assurance measures necessary for operating a human milk bank. The protocols and procedures required to ensure the safety and integrity of donor milk throughout the entire process will be explored. These include donor screening and testing, milk collection, processing, storage and distribution. Our facility investigates best practices for pasteurisation, handling, and storage techniques to maintain the nutritional and immunological properties of human milk while minimising the risk of contamination. We address quality control measures, such as microbial testing, monitoring, and traceability systems, to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficacy in human milk banking operations.
